Egypt: from the amazing pyramids and medieval
bazaars, to its natural beauty and a vibrant culture - the country
is a land packed with treasures. Whilst it is a prime
location to see the great heritage from the ancient world, it is
also part of the Holy Land, and tours to Christian and other
religious monuments are popular.
Egypt is a country that has been marvelled at for centuries.
With its wealth of ancient
history and being home to the Pyramids of Giza, a
site so iconic, it's actually beyond belief and one of the seven
ancient wonders, there's no need whatsoever to question this
statement. The Valley of the Kings, located in Cairo, Cairo Museum
(host to the astonishing gold of Tutankhamun), the Temples of Luxor
and Karnak and the tombs of Abu Simbel have thrilled visitors for
centuries and will, most definitely, continue to do so for a long
time to come.
Another place to visit is
Siwa. One of the worlds's last remaining pristine oasis, which is
home to spectacular natural landscapes, ancient historical ruins
and unique cultural traditions. Famed as the location of the
Oracle of Amon, whom Alexander the Great consulted before
continuing his Persian conquest, Siwa exists today much as it
always has. Majestic rock formations, lush groves and
brilliant salt lakes, as well as natural springs where the water is
sweet and is claimed to have medical properties.
El Fayoum - Medinet El-Fayoum has been called
the Venice of Egypt. The city of close to half a million people was
first known as Crocodilopolis, and later Arsinoe. The city's
dominant attractions are the water wheels built by the Greek
settlers, the canals, and the Obelisk which stands at the city's
northern entrance and was erected in honor of Senwosret I (12th
Dynasty).
Not only does Egypt offer the historical tours and
educational yet fascinating visits, it also offers: nature and
desert treks, great scuba diving (ranked among the best in the
world) and golf, fishing and birding expeditions. You could relax
on any of Egypt's many beaches, swim in the Red Sea, take a
luxurious cruise down the River Nile, while taking in temples,
pyramids and ruins or even experience some of Cairo's lively
nightlife.
Whatever you decide, the land of the Pharaohs offers a fascinating
blend of ancient marvels and modern comforts, combined with
fabulous recreational possibilities and a perfect climate that will
leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
